Industry veteran will focus on expanding the company’s rapidly growing national network of provider-owned Medicare Advantage Plans
American Health Partners, headquartered in Franklin, Tennessee has promoted Fred Chism to the newly created role of Vice President of Network Strategy. In this new role, Chism will be responsible for new market expansion, network development, provider relations, contracts, credentialing, CMS submissions and provider services.

“Fred has successfully led American Health Plans network expansion into new states and has implemented strategic teams and processes that will allow this division to continue to scale in both new and existing markets.”
For the past year, Chism has served as the National Director of Network Strategy where he was responsible for the strategic direction and growth of the company’s nationwide network of Medicare Advantage Institutional Special Needs Plans (ISNP). American Health Plans manages the largest network of provider-owned Medicare Advantage ISNP plans in the United States and is now operating in 10 states with more than 5,000 members and plans to enter 50 new counties in 2023.
ISNPs are specialized Medicare Advantage plans specifically designed for seniors living in institutional or assisted living settings. These specialized plans improve financial performance for nursing home owners while delivering a coordinated, proactive model of care which reduces unnecessary hospitalizations, delivers improved clinical outcomes and enhances overall well-being for members.
Chism holds a Bachelor of Science from Arkansas State University. Before joining American Health Partners, he previously served as the Director of Managed Care Contracting with LifePoint Health and has nearly 20 years of health plan expertise in provider network management and client relations.
