American Health Communities, a division of Franklin, Tennessee-based American Health Partners, has announced the promotion of Chris Spence to regional director of operations.
Spence joined AHC in 2012 and most recently served as administrator at AHC McNairy County in Selmer, Tennessee, where the facility was awarded two Malcom Baldridge National Quality Awards. As regional director, Spence will oversee 15 communities in West Tennessee, including facilities located in Brownsville, Cordova, Covington, Dyersburg, Humboldt, Jackson, Martin, McKenzie, Memphis, Paris, Union City and Waverly.
“Chris is a proven leader who is committed to providing healthcare that improves the lives and strengthens the communities of those we serve at AHC,” said Greg Haynes, vice president of operations for American Health Communities. “His proven operational skill and ability to implement systems that result in measurably better outcomes will ensure his success in this new role. AHC operates 29 senior living, skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers in Tennessee and northern Alabama and specializes in caring for seniors by providing long-term residential healthcare in a home-like environment.

Spence holds degrees in organizational leadership and health management from Union University in Jackson, Tennessee. He began his career as a radiologic technologist at West Tennessee Healthcare. A 2014 graduate of the Tennessee Health Care Association (THCA) Future Leaders program, Spence is currently on the THCA Government Affairs Committee and served previously as a board member and as Jackson District president.
