American Health Partners, a Franklin, Tennessee-based company that provides a variety of healthcare services for seniors, has announced the addition of John Bowen as veterans program manager.
Bowen, who served in the U.S. Navy for three years, will be responsible for all veterans’ programs in 29 skilled nursing and rehab facilities, five psychiatric hospitals and a regional home health and hospice agency. Bowen will help veterans find medical rehab and long-term care in their communities. His duties will include partnering with government agencies and other entities to facilitate high-quality, person-centered care for veterans, their caregivers and families.
The number of veterans in nursing homes is expected to rise 16% between 2017 and 2022 as the population continues to age. With the passage of the MISSION Act earlier this year, more veterans will have access to health services in their communities, including VA-approved skilled nursing care and other support services.

Prior to joining American Health Partners, Bowen was a public contact outreach specialist at the Nashville Regional Office of the Veterans Benefits Administration where he assisted veterans, their dependents and beneficiaries with their VA benefits. He served in the Iraq War and earned four medals of commendation. Bowen received his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and sociology from East Tennessee State University in Johnson City, Tennessee.

American Health Partners currently has contracts with Veterans Affairs to serve veterans in five of its 29 senior living and rehabilitation facilities. VA benefits are now accepted by AHC Covington, AHC Harborview, AHC Lexington, AHC McKenzie and AHC Savannah, all located in Tennessee. In addition, the company’s home health and hospice division, Tennessee Quality Care, also contracts with the VA to support veterans who need home-based nursing and other care after surgery, illness or injury.
