nation’s fastest growing provider-owned ISNP
American Health Plans, a division of American Health Partners, a Franklin, Tennessee-based company that provides the full continuum of post-acute health care services, is pleased to announce Marybeth O’Connor is being promoted into the role of Senior Director of Business Development.
In her new role, O’Connor will lead American Health Plans’ continued membership expansion through development of additional joint ventures, acquisitions and facility contracts to grow the national network of Medicare Advantage Institutional Special Needs Plans ISNPs. With its innovative model of care, the American Health Plans’ ISNP delivers a higher level of coordinated care at the bedside, tailored to each individual member, which results in superior clinical outcomes. American Health Plans is the country’s fastest growing provider-owned ISNP in the United States with Plans in 11 states, capital investments by 30 nursing home organizations and membership in more than 400 nursing homes.
“We are very excited to promote Marybeth into this important leadership role on our development team,” says Hank Watson, Chief Development Officer, American Health Partners. “Marybeth brings a wealth of valuable expertise to our development team and her proven track record of implementing successful Medicare Advantage provider-owned ISNPs will help propel the company into our next phase of national growth.”
Much of O’Connor’s career has been in large employer group insurance sales and account management, with a focus on large, multi-state employer groups. At American Health Plans, she led implementation projects across multiple teams to drive solution-related revenue and program deployment. She has spent the last 11 years working with ISNPs, including three years with American Health Plans and eight years with other large national players in this space.
A graduate of the State University of New York-Oswego, O’Connor has held positions with several national health care companies, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, UnitedHealthcare and CIGNA HealthCare. Her career spans more than 20 years and includes strategic management, membership growth and retention, oversight of direct-to-consumer Medicare Advantage products and revenue-generating growth strategies.
“I’m very excited to take on this new challenge with American Health Plans,” O’Connor said. “I believe the partnership we offer to nursing home owner/operators and the innovative model of care we deliver at the bedside is truly unique.
